That is a funny story, but hey he got a designated driver, albeit a drunk one, so at least he's smart enough not to get behind the wheel drinking.

A Baton Rouge-area defense attorney known for criticizing the use of sobriety checkpoints was handcuffed and taken to jail early Wednesday after exiting the passenger side of his vehicle while intoxicated and informing his driver of her right to refuse a sobriety test, police said.

Jarrett Ambeau, who defends alleged drunk drivers for a living, claims he was targeted and jailed without cause on a misdemeanor count of interfering with an officer because of the work he does, said David Rozas, Ambeau’s attorney.
That is kind of an iffy charge though.

He didn't commit a crime, IMO
Nor was there PC to think he did. Dumbass cop.

This is the problem. You get a DD and still have to deal with BRPD's antics. Punished even when doing the right thing.

I remember that Facebook page. Honest question though... Is that the best action to take if your loaded behind the wheel, don't answer any questions, deny sobriety test and breathalyzer?

He wasn't behind the wheel. so yes, it's her Constitutional right to do so. The cops weren't going to tell her that.

You mess with the bull, you get the horns.
I hope a copy of the video from the in car camera gets released to the media so everyone can see just how big of an arse this guy made of himself.

He was probably being a prick, but now you can't even get a DD and stay out of jail.

Yes, he did.
On a traffic stop, an officer can instruct a person to stay back. At that point it is an investigation.
The area the officer is doing the investigation is the scene.
The officer has control of the scene and can order someone out of that scene. Failure to comply is interference or obstruction.
Being an attorney does not allow you to disregard an officer's instructions.

Yes , he did...that's the law
Interfering with a Law enforcement investigation
Interfering with a Law enforcement investigation
quote:
A. Interfering with a law enforcement investigation is the intentional interference or obstruction of a law enforcement officer conducting investigative work at the scene of a crime or the scene of an accident by refusing to move or leave the immediate scene of the crime or the accident when ordered to do so by the law enforcement officer when the offender has reasonable grounds to believe the officer is acting in the performance of his official duties.
