Why do old people not like rap music?

Young people listen to old people music (Beatles, Elvis, Pink Floyd, etc), but old people do not listen to some of the music that we young people are interested in, why do you guys think this is the case? Are old people just too old to understand rap or maybe they are not able to adapt to a changing music scene

Define old. Rap music has been around since people now in their forties and fifties were in their teens and twenties. Nothing intrinsically wrong with rap music. The problem is so much of it now is shitty, just like so much other popular music now is shitty. Now get off my lawn.

Music has always been actual instruments being played by musicians. Your ears get accustomed to chord progressions and creative changes. Most rap is in one or two keys, cheesy synth, and pre recorded drums tracks. Plus the messages in rap are often negative and unrelatable. There's no playing in front of the beat, no human swell and feeling. Even if you don't play music, you can tell that the lack of human error messes with the feelings of the songs. Also, frick auto tune

I couldn't agree with this more. I'm in my twenties and this is exactly why I don't listen to rap music.

I think they probably don't identify with the lyrics. I'm an old (40yo) white guy from rural America. I don't dislike it, but I have a hard time relating to black, urban based lyrics.
Same with metal. I don't dislike it, but I'm no longer an angry young teenager filled with angst looking to rage.
