Well, there's also the fact Boomers don't like anything they can't claim credit for. Rap flies in the face of their monoculture.

I enjoy some rap but just like a lot of popular music, it has gotten lazy.

Because its the lowest form of music. Its awful. Talents the least amount of skill to make and produces the worst end product. Its a plague upon the art of music.

That's ridiculous. White people had no problem with black peoples music before rap.

Growing up with some of the greatest music ever made, I can see why an older person would think today's rap music is shite.

I don't know if I agree with you. I just don't really have an opinion on it. However the comment below would seem to support your point.

Define old. Rap music has been around since people now in their forties and fifties were in their teens and twenties. Nothing intrinsically wrong with rap music. The problem is so much of it now is shitty, just like so much other popular music now is shitty. Now get off my lawn

Is this a joke? Even the most intolerant generations loved black artists

Louis Armstrong
Nat King Cole
Ray Charles

the list goes on and on

I'm not old and I don't like rap music.

I also don't consider Punk Floyd old people music, just because the music is from 50 years ago doesn't make it old people music.

Just because an artist is black doesn't make it black music.

Plenty of white people of all ages like NWA. Myself included.

The problem is terrible music, not racism.

Music has always been actual instruments being played by musicians. Your ears get accustomed to chord progressions and creative changes. Most rap is in one or two keys, cheesy synth, and pre recorded drums tracks. Plus the messages in rap are often negative and unrelatable. There's no playing in front of the beat, no human swell and feeling. Even if you don't play music, you can tell that the lack of human error messes with the feelings of the songs. Also, frick auto tune

I see what you are saying but NOT ALL rap is not instrumental and/or positive. Listen to the group The Roots, for example (yeah, that band on the Jimmy Fallon Show).

So if rap is the "lowest form of music" and is "terrible music", why would one like nwa?

Rap is pretty similar to modern country, except arguably more socially damaging.

Both repeat the same stupid themes in nearly every song. Both are regularly performed by extremely popular and yet largely talentless morons. Both appeal to the most worthless Americans.

I can tell when these music fans ARE NOT music fans. You can't catagorize one bad rap song with all the others. There are rap songs out that speak positivity AND use live instrumentation.
