I don't understand why they would throw the Pats under the bus on that.
It's for personal player safety that they didn't disclose the true nature of the injury (in most cases).

This is not an uncommon practice with the Patriots or anyone else for that matter.

By the rules of the league it is cheating. Rules are explicit on reporting injuries. It's done that way for a variety of reason including supposedly protecting the players and avoiding falsified injury reports to try and gain a competitive advantage.
Another reason is that it can be used against a player when contract time comes around. If teams think you had a significant injury to your leg that kept you out some games and could think it may linger or affect your play later, it can reduce your contract value.
I agree with the rule, and never really mind Belichick getting called out, but I doubt much comes from this. Just disgruntled former players and that's how they'll

The only reason the injury report exsist is because of gambling.

I really could careless if every team does it. It's cheating and I hope they get disciplined in the highest bc everyone was having "performance betting" in the locker room and the Saints get hammered. I promise you nothing will be done to them bc there the only team that has cheated in past and they got a slap on the risk for that.

I'm sure I'm biased being a saints fan but I couldnt care less abou this. Now Indys GM that was drunk driving and had drugs. Throw the book at them
