According to Over the Cap, the Saints are over the cap (no pun intended) by $300K. Also, this does not include the Joe Morgan signing.

Have they applied June 1st cuts?

I've heard Pierres extension hasn't been submitted yet, so we're probably a bit under.

I believe this is the case. It shows his cap number at $2.5M, I think.

they still aren't showing what PT's new restructured salary is.

According to their calculator, Bunkley as a June 1st cut saves $3M+.

I wouldn't worry about our cap space. They know what they have and don't have, and they'll work it all out.
We aren't run like the Panthers.

It might not have to include the joe Morgan signing cause only the top 51 contracts count vs the cap.

I can understand why we, NE, Denver, Baltimore, GB, and Atlanta may have cap issues, but it amazes me that a team with a QB still on his rookie deal is this tight on cap space.

I can tell you why:
2DEs: 29.5mil cap hit
3RB/FBs: 13.935mil cap hit
total for 5 players: 43.435mil (32.7% of the cap)

We haven't made any and we don't get the extra savings until then anyway.
There's a few things like hat haven't gone through yet. We should be about half a mil under.

I haven't seen the contract amount but I think it might reach the top 51 level.

It'll barely edge out one of the bottom ones by $75,000 to $150,000.

That surprises me a little. I thought it would be a little higher since it appeared other teams were interested. I guess he did OK considering the lack of experience and coming off that injury.

That was assuming he took the minimum of course. If not that'll change.
Basically the top 51 rule works like this. Say you're bottom guy makes $420,000(ours does). If you sign someone for $570,000 and had 51 guys before the signing, his salary replaces the bottom guy's.
Instead of adding $570,000 to the cap though, he only adds the difference between his salary and the bottom guy's because his comes off.
I often forget this myself so when I see someone sign or get cut I forget to add or subtract the appropriate amount.
