That's "greatest of all times" for the people who don't know what GOAT stands for.

I would have to go with the old Chimes, when it was a hole in the wall.

What you say?

I don't remember George's Place. I got to give Splash one thing, it is one of the best lay outs for a bar in BR (old Plum Crazy was probably better lay out with all the 2-way mirrors, private rooms, etc)

I just listed gay bars to be an arse

George's place is across the street from pastime.

Real answer for me is Chimes & to get stupid drunk TA's Tavern. Drinkin with Lincoln could get bad on fri nights

TA's had good drink specials but it was a shite hole!!!

Back in my day, Xantha's wasn't a gay bar, it was a heavy x and coke bar. T-Trax was the gay bar. Everyone went to The Bengal to drink and than to Xantha's for the high energy music.

I would put Sports Illustrated and Fred's over Murphy's any day. It was a shithole that smelled like New Orleans during Mardi Gras. It had a bunch of douchebag bouncers.

I could agree with The Bayou because some of the great music that have played there. What are some of the "before they got big" names that played there?

There use to be a building across the street from "Baton Rouge Beach" on Stanford. It was a bar in 60's and 70's. ZZ Top played there one time.

Fred's, back then, was basically the Murphy's spillover bar...we'd go from Murphy's to Fred's....and it was a little older crowd. Unless you liked hanging with Geert Hamnick, gold chains, tricky dancing to techno music, or fighting in the parking lot 20 on 1 style at 2:15 a.m., I don't see how Sports is even in this conversation.....

Sports isn't in the conversation, just saying Murphy's was no better than Sports.

Is Sports what Reggie's used to be?

Also, where is/was Murphy's?
