Supposedly John Clayton said on Espn just now the Saints are interested in him. Anybody heard anything about this?

Why don't you want him? He's going to be cheap, he's a stop gap.

Almost guarantees we have a healthy corner past week 5

He would be a good fit if he doesn't screw up off the field. Big, press cover corner

Which should make him cheaper

He'd be a great value addition. Allow us to take care of the offense in the draft

I, personally, would rather us draft a DB w/ 27 that can come in and immeadiately start. Browner is 30, and suspended for the first 4 games of the year. In that 4 week period, if we do draft a DB at 27, our rookie could gain a lot of experience in the starter's role. Why have a guy come in wekk 5 to take it over? And I'd much rather have P-Rob play our nickel spot than Browner...On top of that, if we sign anyone before resigning Z. Strief I think it's a huge mistake.

It's not like our secondary NEEDS a CB that badly after signing Byrd. I still see us taking someone like Tarrell Brown later on but I wouldn't mind taking Browner at all

Well we haven't been very successful evaluating rookie corner talent.

Rob wanted Claiborne, and he's been a disaster.

We have other needs than corner. Hell, a rookie corner is just as risky as a 4 game suspension. Get a proven player and load up on receivers in a deep receiver class. Jenkins didn't play until late in the season and was terrible

In a heartbeat.
He's also visited the Pats I think.

In the end, if we would end up signing him; great. I guess it doesn't hurt anything and adds depth if nothing else, but I just think we have more pressing issues that we should try resolving (i.e; OT, C, WR) before signing a 30 year old corner who's suspended for the first 4 games.

WRs are too expensive in FA. You can get center talent late in the draft.

Corners a dangerous first round pick

WR's can be just as dangerous though, and have burned us in the past as well.

ETA: I get that you're not saying we should draft a WR at 27, but I think the majority of people feel like it will be a WR or DB.

No. It would not hurt to sign him as a #2 corner is a pressing need.
WR will be addressed in the draft and I have zero doubt the FO is on top of the center and RT tackle situation.

You can survive a bad wr pick, hard to survive a bad corner

And even a young Meachem would do this team good.

I do like the guy from tcu

He and Dennard would be the only two DB's I would take at 27. I like them both a lot. Most have Dennard going between 20-26, and he'd be the ONLY player in this draft I would contemplate trading up for if that turned out to be the case.
