Somehow Harbaugh will make this work...

Jacksonville traded QB Blaine Gabbert to SF for a 6th round pick, per sources.

Shocking, honestly. Not really sure what they're thinking here.

Well if Kaep is still looking for 20 million I see why they made this move.

I'd rather cut him than take back a sixth round pick. Even if that pick can potentially help one day, at least you don't have the shame of trading the 10th overall for a sixth three years later.

This is why you'll never be an NFL GM

Gabbert isn't even worth a 6th round pick though.

Harbaugh, if still with the 49ers in the next 3-5 years, could potentially groom him. I mean look what he did with Alex Smith

The GM that traded him isn't the same GM that drafted him.

The only reason I'd be hesitant to do this if I were a 49er fan is I'd think they could get his salary lower if he were cut instead of traded. I suppose they may already have an arrangement regarding his compensation.

Not bad for the Niners, don't they have a shite ton of picks this year? Gabbert is probably(hopefully) more polished than anyone they could grab in the 6th or 7th.

Bill Polian just said he doesnt think Gabbert is anything more than a camp QB.

if so, getting a 6th rounder is a bit of a steal

It's probably going to be a trade nobody will be talking about by the start of week 3. That's unless Kaep goes down or they don't pay him.

If it wasn't for tim tebow, gabbert would be the prime example of how shitty quarterbacks are overvalued.

Jac made out. SF should've traded a can of soup instead.

Gabbert is supposed to make a little over 2M this year while Kap is supposed to make 1.1

Win-win. Jacksonville gets more than anyone could have possibly imagined Gabbert would fetch on the trade market and San Fran gives up a disposable pick for a more than likely disposable part.

And who knows? Maybe spending the offseason program under Harbaugh will agree with him.
