It seems like every other day, there is another no-hitter (or two) in college baseball. Last weekend, it was Maryland’s Jake Stinnett. On Tuesday, it was Miami’s Javi Salas, who threw a perfect game. On Thursday, it was Brigham Young’s Kolton Mahoney.

Saturday saw two more no-hitters. Oregon State’s Jace Fry no-hit Northern Illinois in a 2-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader. Fry walked just two and struck out 10, needing 97 pitches to complete the no-hitter. It came a day after Ben Wetzler held the Huskies to just one hit over eight innings. Northern Illinois finally broke a 16 ?-inning hitless streak in the fourth inning of the nightcap, but the Beavers went on to win it 12-2 in seven innings.

Can't remember the last time I saw a no-hitter in CFB.

NCAA changed bats and took offense out of college baseball.
It's not different than if NCAA restricts offense in college football with 10 second rule.

Leave well enough alone.

So 17-21 run slug fests are better for college baseball?

How is college baseball fine, no hitters should not be that common in baseball at any level.

No that was bad too. But they went so far in the opposite direction that it took too much offense away. They need to find a nice middle ground. I don't want 20-19 slugfests but I don't think shutouts and no hitters should be very common.

There weren't many 21-17 slugfests in college baseball in the late 2000s. The bats were fine from 2001-2010, then the NCAA decided to send the hitters to home plate with wet noodles in their hands.

so do you choose to ignore the fact that the NCAA realizes it went too far and has taken steps to remedy the situation?

Yeah new ball next year right? The CWS was bad last year but I didn't really think it was bad for the most part last season. I'd rather watch a 4-3 game than 12-9.

Why wait a full year to implement changes? So basically 3 shitty years of college baseball.

When you knock the cover off the ball and it turns into a fly out that doesn't reach the warning track, there's a problem.

UCLA won the national championship because their pitchers where throwing meatballs ON PURPOSE because everybody knew they would just be long fly outs.

You know how many baseballs teams go through in a season? You can't just snap your fingers and come up with that many balls.

College baseball should just use wooden bats and be done with the whole debate.

They weren't throwing them "ON PURPOSE" but with the watered down bats, and the stadium with no carry, the pitchers at the CWS were not penalized for making bad pitches. Miss State won their first two games when their opponents drilled bombs in the 9th innings of both games, that harmlessly dropped near the warning track. Both of those games should have ended with a walkoff home run of the home team. It wasn't just the bats, the guy from Indiana, who hit one of those balls, had nearly 20 home runs on the year. Katz hit many home runs last year. The problem late last year was the bats combined with TD Ameritrade Park.

If a pitcher makes a mistake at Alex Box Stadium, he can still be punished.
