Just curious how that works.
How what works?
If you are asking about wooden bats, I would assume the NCAA puts the rule up for vote with some kind of committee, and it either passes the rule or it doesn't. Pretty easy to figure out.

Just the choosing of different schools for different sports. Never really got that.

Miss State won their first two games when their opponents drilled bombs in the 9th innings of both games
That Oregon State fly out to end it the guy bat flipped and everything. He destroyed that ball and it was WTP.

How do you propose they "fix" college baseball?
just let them play with mlb spec wood bats

I'm sure that number will drop drastically once teams get into conference play.

that's not cost effective for most programs. why do people always bring up wooden bats?

Why wait a full year to implement changes? So basically 3 shitty years of college baseball.
Per them there were logistic issues. Plus i dont believe they even approved the rule change until right before the season. It certainly would have been nice to change the ball this year but oh well.

So 17-21 run slug fests are better for college baseball?
For God's sake, is there no middle ground?
Every opponent of ditching these dead bats comes back with this particular line.
I don't need to see a 17-21 run slug fest.
But you know what I would like to see? The occasional home run, which is part of baseball. A big part of baseball, actually.
Don't all you small-ball fanatics realize that what you're watching is in no way similar to how the MLB plays baseball? NO ONE plays small ball in the Majors.

Why is college baseball going along with this dinky, boring-arse style of play?
And let me tell you one more thing... I LOVE pitcher's duels. LOVE good pitching in any level of baseball. But right now the game is so far in favor of pitching and defense it feels broken. Again, this is coming from someone who loves pitching. WE NEED MORE OFFENSE IN THIS GAME.

Exactly. Most baseball programs lose money already. Many would probably be forced to stop playing if they went to wood bats

I guess some people think that ADs have unlimited budgets. I'll wait to see until what the seam changes brings. Also the size and design of the new CWS stadium can't be emphasized enough. It's a pitcher's park.

i wouldnt even respond to someone who said I dont like 21-17 games. They obviously havent watched college baseball since 1996.

because everyone bitches about the metal bats being used now. I dont really care what bat they use. The game has changed

i guess my point is the bats now are close to the wood bats. Changing to wood bats does nothing but increase costs.

They are close but actually have a smaller sweet spot than the wood bats. But with the new MLB baseball being used next year in college, the ball "suppose" to travel further. We will see.
If it were me, I would be in favor of wood bats with the new ball being used in 2015. Then we would be seeing some real baseball.

honest question how many bats does a mlb team use per yr?
I know you could use a metal bat an entire yr, but the price of metal is 4x what a wood bat cost. So If each player got 4 wood bats for one metal bat would it work?

For some teams like LSU, State, OM, or Arkansas but not for the rest. Those are the only SEC teams that make money on baseball. Think about that nationwide.

They are just switching to flat seams rather than the raised seam ball we have now. It averages about 20 feet farther. They aren't supposed to change the core yet until they can see what impact that seams have, which is a good idea IMO
