It is is confirmed and official. Jets are releasing CB Antonio Cromartie, as he tweeted.

Not saying we should get him, but every extra CB on the market helps drive the price down of the guys at or below their level.
Not really sure what he has left since I haven't seen him play outside of 1 game in the last few years.

I think if we're going to sign a CB in FA, it's going to be a long term signing. He's 29.

I'm starting to think there's a chance we may have to settle for a 1-2 year stop gap.

Well, PFF ranked him 103rd of 110 CB's last season overall.
They also noted he earned the 64th spot (of 81) of CB's in terms of passer rating when thrown to him (at 100.7).
Sooooo...I'm not too keen.

If this team has a 3 year window like everyone is claiming...

I'd rather go after Captain Munnerlyn, Alterraun Verner, Terall Brown or Corey Graham first.

Dudes an athlete. Wouldn't mind for the right price

Why did you start with a violin?
Just to piss people off?
It's hard to answer should we threads cause they are so tied to which position the organization is targeting in 1st-3rd rounds. But i like cromartie as a player. But he's I think almost 30 and has lost a step. Lewis needs a counter part.
I think our biggest needs right now are a starting above average corner, a center, a speedy route running receiver and a safety.
Now if we lose Graham and Payton hates our new tackle then we need a possession receiver and a tackle more than a center probably. Though we might need both.
And with the recent cuts what a fun offseason this is. Best in a while. I wonder if Payton wanted to cut these guys before this year but couldn't.

If boner is joined at the hip with Triplett, then I must live in the rotoworld. I agree with their summations far more than not.
On Cromartie:
Cromartie was a legit shutdown corner in 2012, but his play slipped dramatically in 2013 as he battled a chronic hip injury, appearing stiffer than ever. Still only 30 years old -- he turns in April -- Cromartie will be a boom-or-bust free agent signing.
We suspect "Cro" will re-sign for a relatively cheap sum over three or four years. He turns 30 in April.

Bring him in for a tryout. See how his hips are. And sign him for cheap with an injury clause.

His hips most certainly won't lie.

I've really liked Chromartie and he had a beastly season with the Jets I believe two seasons ago. I can't believe he's only 29
