Saints extended original-pick tender to restricted free agent S Rafael Bush.
That's the "low" tender of $1.431 million. Bush was an undrafted free agent, so the Saints won't be entitled to compensation if they let Bush walk. The Saints' No. 3 safety last season, Bush's return is important with Malcolm Jenkins potentially moving on in free agency.

Bush (the safety) is highly underrated, if you ask me.

The dude can flat-out play.

I figured that they would take the risk with the original round tender over the 2nd. I don't think that he's going to get any enticing offers and his best chance at raising his value is sticking around here in a system that he knows and possibly starting. If I have the choice of the 1 year $1.4m or something like a 3 year $5m deal with another team, I'm taking the chance on the one year deal and raising my value for next offseason.

Agreed. I've always been impressed with him. I'm sure Percy Harvin is as well.

Surprised it wasn't a 2nd round tender given our lack of safeties (only Vaccaro and Bush if he stays).

Definitely means Morgan isn't going to get the 2nd rounder.

I think Bush solved Harvins migraine problem.

He'll never complain about a headache again.

Good move.. He's not the ballhawk we all keep wishing for but athletic, quick, lays the wood. As someone said recently he can flat-out play football. I could watch that hit over and over and over and over....

WHO DAT!

I thought that there was a chance depending on how much the team valued him vs. what somewhat might be willing to over pay to get the speedster, but the injury definitely didn't help his cause.

I've lately been leaning more towards him getting the original round tender but now I'm even unsure of that.

On our other RFAs, I knew Johnson and Collins wouldn't get tenders.

I just think if I'm a GM of another team in need of a cheap safety with starting potential that Bush definitely fits that bill.

I don't think anyone's going to go crazy with big money, and maybe someone only gives him a $2m offer and we match so I guess in some way we are risking him vs. saving $1m on the cap vs. maybe only having to pay $2m in the end anyway.

The problem would come in if a team offered him more than $2m, even if it was at something like $2.5m. Now we have to pay more than the 2nd round tender if we want to keep him.

So this is definitely a big risk reward scenario.

I can't imagine there was ever any thought with the franchise of tendering a guy for over 2 mil with 10 catches in 3 years in the league.....especially considering the cap situation.

Lots of marginal wr's hitting fa this year...and to this point, that's all Morgan is.

That's why I said I had been thinking more that they'd give him the original round tender, but now I'm thinking he gets a minimum offer or we let him walk.

Absolutely. The guy needs a minimum offer for 2014 on a show me deal. If the knee injury hurt his speed, what else does he have?
