After nearly two months of NO Grizz.... we had to move on

Yesterday we drove a short little piece , to fetch JRs new pup....

and Basic Utility Dog School indoc begins now...

From a dog standpoint we needed to replace a retriever and a pointer....

Got a male boykin yesterday.... this is big change for me..... life long big brown dog and pointer guy.. going with the little brown dog....

Be careful with your dog when it gets super cold. A friend lost one this year on a duck hunt. He also picked up his new one this weekend.

You will enjoy your Boykin. My huntin buddy has had one for as long as we've hunted together and they are beasts for both retrieving and bird hunting. Lots of spirit...

How about an in game training thread? If you're up for it, of course.

Buddy of mine at work has a Boykin. That dog rocks.

Hate it about Grizz. I just hope somebody found him and is treating him right. No lie...wife and I went down to Oschners for my mother-in-law..when we got to the interstate area where Grizz was lost..I told my wife..if for some reason I see a GSP running about...I'm gonna get you to stop this truck. She knew.

Boykins are pretty smart from what the guy tells me...I've always been a Lab fan...but I've heard nothing but good about Boykins.

Good luck with your new one.

Got him from a guy in NE GA...

As for crapping outside

1. Feed same food breeder fed
2. After feed time stops crate , wait a couple minutes bring outside warm wet rag wipe but - anything in dogs bowels is sson evacuated.....momma dog licks em to make em poop....you can teach a dog to pretty much evacuate Bowels on commannd by starting like that when u first bring them home....

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that! We've almost got him trained during the day. Having to wake up 2-3 times a night to take him out to avoid a mess....

I kept my brothers Boykin this weekend. He is only about 8 weeks old but he seemed like a really good dog. Had his nose to the ground the whole time we were outside. He made two short retrieves in 40 degree water and wanted more. But he tried to eat everything in the house.
