The trio consists of Mayer along with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan who are both incredibly good musicians. I'd say Mayer's best work is with these two involved on the album TRY! and the live album Where the Light is.

Both Palladino and Jordan did work on Mayer's best studio album Continuum as well.

LATE NIGHT PERFORMANCE

Some stuff from the Trio:

Out of My Mind

Everyday I've Got the Blues

Ain't No Sunshine

I've Got a Woman

So awesome.

"Legendary guests".... BB, Buddy, Clapton would be likely, and nice.

ETA: In honor of the news, I'm listening to Live at the Bowery Ballroom NYC 2005, in my office.

Pino goes from touring with Nine Inch Nails to the John Mayer Trio. Quite the hop.

That's some freak-level talent to surround himself with (again). I hope Jordan also co-produces whatever they cut. Continuum was the first album Mayer really sang out on, and the grooves were a mile wide.

Felt the shite out of that. Just saw Chick Corea last month in Boulder.
