Or are they already too far gone?

Posting a loss 5 out of the last 6 years (the only year they were profitable was because they sold off their American real estate holdings) and this year they are now predicting a $1.1 Billion loss. This is after an earlier prediction of $450 Million profit. They are dumping their computer division and plan on tightening their Movie division in an effort to "save it". Samsung has taken over TVs and Android Phones and outside of a miracle there is no way Sony is going to change that anytime soon. Really the only thing Sony has left at this point seems like the Playstation and even that generally operates at a loss for the first few years after initial launch.

Honestly it feels like no matter what they do at this point eventual bankruptcy is inevitable.

I've always felt that you were paying a premium for the name. I'm not sure if Sony can't afford to lower their price point to increase volume, or if they are just too proud to sell their products for less.

Bump for advice from fellow SNE owners... I have a few hundred in Sony stocks and with the price coming up to the $18-$19 range, should I sell? Really thinking about selling and getting into something else. I just don't see Sony getting up there ($25+) anytime soon if ever, which was my hope going in. Made a small profit, but dont ever see it doing great. I'm young (25) so I dont mind taking the risk. What do you all think?

I've thought they should focus on Playstation for a while now. Too much competition with PC, smartphones, televisions, etc., but the competition for gaming consoles is minimal. Nintendo and Microsoft are, to my knowledge, the only other companies that produce a competitive console. Does Sony still produce the PSP, and if so, are they rolling out a newer version?

I do believe Sony still produces the PSP, but I have not heard much about it in a few years. They came out with the PSP Vita about 3 or 4 years ago which was the newest PSP, but I have not heard since then.

They burned a lot of people with defective tvs. Including me. Haven't bought Sony products in many years.

When I think Asian electronics, I think Samsung.

Samsung makes a better tv for a cheaper price. Sony needs to lower their prices to LG level with the same quality and they can survive.

Got out today after a few years in. Got in at 18.67. Out at 19.30. Time to reinvest it.
