Me and the Mrs are heading to LA next week. Looking for some cool stuff to do around the city.

One thing I kinda want to do is go to a Laker game, and since they're kinda shitty, tickets are reasonable.

But other than that, what would the OT do?

Do not go to Hollywood. It's disgusting. I'll save you some time.

I'll never understand people waiting until a week out to consider what they are actually going to do on their vacations.

When you get into LAX, go straight to the counter. Ask for Jenny. Tell Jenny you want a ticket to San Diego. Your welcome.

Hollywood just sucks. Don't do it.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is an hour north and I can say that it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend including this in your plans. It will take several hours to tour it and to enjoy the airplane hanger which house his AF1 737, Marine 1 and his Presidential Limousine.

Go to Watts and cap a few rounds just for the fun of it.

I'm putting that on the list for sure.

I know Hollywood is supposedly a waste of time, but isn't it kind of one of those obligatory things?

It's not a waste of time. Just don't expect it to be Disneyland. It's very urban and gritty. But it also has the hottest clubs west of Las Vegas.

That's a good list!

I'd add:

Go to Hermosa Beach and rent bikes and ride the bike path north to Venice if you can make it.
Melrose shopping
LA Live
The Grove/Farmer's Market
Fashion District
Venice Beach
The Mulholland overlook north of the Hollywood Bowl
Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive
Drive around Bel Air or take a bus tour of Beverly Hills/Bel Air

Bronson Canyon, or Bronson Caves, is a section of Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California that has become famous as a filming location for a large number of movies and TV shows, especially westerns and science fiction, from the early days of motion pictures to the present. Its craggy and remote-looking setting, but easily accessible location, has made it a prime choice for filmmakers, particularly of low-budget films, who want to place scenes in a lonely wilderness.

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is a 932-acre park located in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, in northern Los Angeles County, California. It is in Agua Dulce between the Antelope Valley and the Santa Clarita Valley north of Los Angeles and seen easily by motorists driving the Antelope Valley Freeway.

In 1935, Universal Pictures assigned Stanley Bergerman as executive producer on the film Werewolf of London. Bergerman suggested the Vasquez Rocks as the location for what was supposed to be Tibet. Since then, Vasquez Rocks have been used innumerable times in motion pictures, various television series and in moving and still photography advertisements, and continue to be used in them today.

Franklin Canyon Park is a public park located near Benedict Canyon at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. The park comprises 605 acres (2.45 km2), and is located at the purported geographical center of the city of Los Angeles.[1] The park features a 3-acre (12,000 m2) lake, a duck pond and over five miles (8 km) of hiking trails. The lake and pond are visited by birds in the Pacific Flyway. The park was used for the hitchhiking scene in It Happened One Night, and the opening credits of The Andy Griffith Show.

I first went to Franklin Canyon last year and immediately recognized it as the Andy Griffith lake. I wasn't positive so I asked people that were there and they had no idea. Not sure that they even knew what the hell I was talking about. That said, I don't think that it's a very touristy spot.

It's weird how rare I ever hear of anyone vacationing in L.A.

Not meant as a crtiticism of you per se, just an observation.
