I've been thinking about buying a ghilli suit for hunting. Has anybody used one to great success or is it just more of a novelty?

The heater in my box stand keeps catching the strips on fire.

Leafy suit FTW as long as the temps don't get too high. That thing will burn you up

I know several turkey hunters that use the leafy camo but none that use a full on ghilli type suit. I tried one on for giggles at an NWTF event sometime back and to be sure they arent meant for walking long distances in thick woods. They would hang up on everything and I'd imagine you would get very hot with minimal exertion.

To me, its really just a novelty..

I use a mosquito leafy suit for turkeys

I like being able to wear a lightweight tshirt underneath when it's hot

burlap sacks cut into strips. Dye if you like. Tie on to or stich to old jacket.

I do. But not for hunting.

I wear mine and hide in the bushes at night and scare kids when they are trying to roll my yard. Probably going to move up to a squatch outfit soon.

I upvoted.

I could see that type of suit being a nightmare in the spring or summer. Besides just the heat, can you imagine how many mosquitoes and ticks you'd be pulling out of that thing?

I love mine

I shot a doe this season in early October when it was 80*F. I wore gym shorts, a red tee shirt and my leafy suit

its well worth it since they're fairly cheap

I have one of the leafy suits from Bass Pro that I use in the bow season. I go with just shorts and a t-shirt under it. I will also use it over a rain suit if I'm hunting in the pouring down rain. My rain suit I like is blue so this gives me some camo. I just cant find a camo rain suit better than the one I have.

Guy I use to hunt with had one. When nobody was at the camp he would put it on and walk the property. I knew this because id get game cam pics of him.

He never killed anything like that since he was also just walking and not paying attention to the wind or anything else and is pretty much a dumbass

I bought a set of these just for the purpose to wear when it was really hot. The one I got was basically just mesh with a real thin spotting of cloth leaves.

Have never used it.

I like the leafy suits too, but the full ghilli was what I've been looking at. Turkey hunting and bow hunting would be the uses.

I always liked the idea of it, but have yet to find one that is quiet. I absolutely can not stand any piece of clothing that makes even the slightest noise when I'm hunting.
