any of you elderly folks ever attend concerts at the old Warehouse in New Orleans? I wish I had grown up at the time where I could have enjoyed a place like this. The world is too concerned about itself to allow for stuff like this.

that may not be entirely true, but it was certainly a different time.

My dad played there a bunch back in the day. Jealous of all the shows that came through there.

The live songs at the beginning of ZZ Top's Fandango' LP were recorded there.

I've heard a bunch of cool stories over the years from people who saw shows there.

Yeah, I'm old - but, I did see many shows at the Warehouse, including: Allman Bros (numerous times); Wet Willie; The Meters; Fleetwood Mac; Earl King; the Who; Talking Heads; ZZ Top; Jerry Jeff Walker and some I have no memory of attending.

I grew up in New Orleans during that era. The list of bands I saw there includes the Allman Brothers, the Chamber Brothers, Black Oak Arkansas, Lynard Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Small Faces, then Rod Stewart solo after he left Faces, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Humble Pie, Savoy Brown, Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Jethro Tull, Foghat, The Doobie Brothers, Yes, The Who, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Joe Cocker, Grand Funk Railroad, Black Sabbath, Carlos Santana, The Guess Who, The James Gang, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, BLue Oyster Cult, etc etc etc.

Didn't know that.

The Allman Brothers Band was considered the house band there.

my brother in law got a piece of Townsend's guitar when he was in HS. When we saw the Who there in college he no longer destroyed his equip. Poco was one of the best i saw there. The Who, Tull, Wishbone Ash, Loggins/Messina, New Riders, Trapeze, man i wish i could remember...(but no wonder, more than age took its toll)

Yep, Wishbone Ash had a huge following in NO. Saw them at the Warehouse and also at UNO at the old basketball arena (the House of Horrors).

Saw Styx open for Wishbone Ash. Had never heard of Styx at the time.

PS. At 55 wouldn't exactly consider myself elderly.

Shows that I can remember:

Fleetwood Mac (pre Buckingham/Nicks)
Joe Cocker w/ Mad Dogs & Englishmen (Leon Russel, Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett, etc.)
Ten Years After
It's a Beautiful Day
Jethro Tull
Grand Funk Railroad

You picked up a small throw rug to sit on the concrete floor when you came in the door. Great memories !

I lived in New Orleans in that era and attended over 50 concerts there. I don't ever remember anybody saying "A Warehouse." It was always "The Warehouse."

impressive L.A.

Didn't live in NOLA so didn't see near as many.

As I think back now, I dunno if there was any dope smoking enclave I ever visited in the U.S. as cool. I can remember the smoke being so dense and get so exhausted at shows that I would lift my head upwards to get in a little oxygen. This is the part where folks say "shows I can remember".

Looking over the comments I think there were the most of us at the ELP show. One day, I'll get inspired and dig out some pics I have from my pocket Instamatic camera there.
