Quentessential beers

Just bought a six pack of Stone IPA's. after looking at the other choices, I realized that this was what i thought was the quintessential beer in its class.

What other beers do you consider as the standard bearer in their class (IPA's, PA's, porters, lagers, stouts, etc)?

I agree with Sierra Nevada pale ale.

For lagers, I'm thinking Brooklyn lager, as far as a good representative of the style and good taste.
