I just read they're selling them at the LSU baseball games.

They've been selling them at basketball games too.

Do any stores here sell them? I've never had theirs and want to try them. How do they freeze and what is the best way to heat them?
I was always a big fan of MOPS Meat Pies when she had her place on Government Street.

They freeze just fine if they're raw. Lasyone's sells them frozen or cooked. You fry them up.
Now I'm sad. I just remembered I have a few left in my freezer that are almost certainly freezer burnt all to hell.

Do they sell them frozen in stores? I went to a party at a placemin New Iberia and was talking to the caterer that I kinda know through others. I told him how much I liked their meat pies, how it must be time consuming, etc. He then tells me its not that hard to make and he can get me a box.......from Sysco

They're selling them at gymnastics events and I believe, maybe, at the softball games in addition to basketball and baseball. Price wasn't given.
The only way I know of to get them is by buying them directly at the restaurant or ordering, per their website, from a crawfish company who ships for them, but you have to order about 60. They don't ship less than that at this time. I asked. The price includes shipping so you could go in with someone and order them and work it out. The crawfish pies are good, as well. Not a cheesy concoction, but more of a crawfish pie type filling and no rice. I hate crawfish pies with rice in them.
I went to the restaurant over the holidays and bought a supply for my freezer. I've had a lot of meat pies and made them at home, but nothing stacks up to theirs.
Martini, I deep fry them as they instruct. Some folks bake them. I haven't tried that, but the dough is made to be fried and while the inside would taste the same, to me, it's the whole deal that makes them so good.
Boss, stop off and buy some. They sure make for a quick good meal. Throw in a salad and/or a side and you're done. I defrost them first, so plan ahead, but a few minutes in the deep fryer and they're ready.

Ive baked them - sucks. Unfortunately frying them is the best manner inwhich to prepare them.
I have some at home. My wife loves them. Was mentioning that incase Martini wanted some transported

As much as you travel, boss, you could be the Lasyone's meat pie delivery man!!!
I have no problem frying them. They aren't greasy and don't suck up much oil. I can tell when I use the cleaned up fryer and see that oil doesn't reduce much at all when I fry some. They are worth it in my book. I don't eat them every day, of course, though I probably could.
I also read about a new restaurant in Natchitoches on Facebook the other day. Can't recall the name, but it's on Cane River. Some of the dishes sounded good and some were the usual stuff. I haven't heard much more about it, though. Appears it may have opened late summer. There were some pics of the large covered patio dining area, as well, which looked like a nice place to have multiple cocktails.

Just add that to the list of Boudin from Bourques, Andouille from Jacobs, & Raw Olives from Central Grocery.
Good thing I drive one of those oversized, gas guzzling, non-eco friendly vehicles.
Will check on the joint n Natch. My parents have likely been there, an my ole man would have certainly had multiple cocktails.

I'm actually from the Natchitoches area and go home fairly often. Been going to Lasyone's for years. So good.
Maglieaux's maybe?

I can't believe they've gone up that much since the 70's,, seems like only yesterday......

I love how they have the chart there for those that can't multiply the number of meatpies they want by $3 or $4.

I believe that's it. It's relatively new, right?
Boss, you've got some willpower for not eating at Lasyone's. I couldn't do it. I would have had to have gotten a meat pie to go. They'd have to cost a lot more than what they do now to keep me from buying them.
I like the meat pies more than the crawfish pies, but Lasyone's crawfish pies are the best I've had in all my tastings. I'm not sure when they started making the crawfish pies, but it had been years since I'd been to the restaurant before the holidays this year. I saw them on the website and had to sample one to determine whether a purchase was necessary.
I loved eating in the restaurant again. It was like going back in time and the folks were so nice and welcoming.

Yes, I don't remember how long they've been open but it was sometime last year. They opened in the building that was previously occupied by Antoon's Restaurant, towards the end of Front Street and across from The Pub.

ETA: Well, damn, my first post said it didn't post and it didn't show up, so I rewrote the thing below and now, it's there. I'm leaving it since it has some additional words of wisdom.
I believe that's it. Isn't it relatively new?
Boyce also has the best fried chicken joint at that same exit. It's called Uncle Albert's, I think. Dingy looking place. I stopped off there once and I've wanted that chicken again ever since. No heavy gluey batter...just a light crispy flour crust. Better than any I've had. Makes Popeye's look pretty rough. So, if you're traveling that way, stop off and get some. The dirty rice was okay, also. It's not really dirty rice, though. I think it's just ground beef, but it's good. They have regular and spicy fried chicken, as well.
Boss, you've got way more willpower than I have. I would have had to order a cooked meat pie for the roast, at least. I loved eating there over the holidays. It had been years since I'd been there. The folks were so nice and it's like going back in time. I returned with a ton of frozen pies for various folks who put in an order. I wish I'd brought back more than 2 dozen meats and a dozen crawfish for myself. I still like the meat pies better than the crawfish, but the crawfish are the best I've tasted and I've tasted a lot of them. That crust is darn fine when it gets those little bubbles in it.
Geauxt, you old tightwad. 3 bucks was hefty when you were around in the 70's, Methuselah.

Okay, now I understand where it is. I was trying to figure that out.
