Is this pretty much proof that Rettig is out as well?

"Rivers said his brother is transferring because he’s more of a dropback quarterback, and LSU’s offense will feature read-option plays that require more a runner at quarterback."

That would probably rule Rettig out and only leave Harris/Jennings as the QB.

I don't really care who is QB, but I hope we aren't trying to make pocket passers (Harris/Jennings) dual threat QBs like we did with JJ.

1. Phillip Rivers' word isn't gospel
2. Occasionally running option with an athletic QB is a good thing and doesn't necessarily mean we're going to a full spread option offense
3. Rettig is very athletic and pretty mobile
4. WHY DOES JJ HAVE TO COME UP?

Did you expect him to say "My brother is transferring b/c he's not as good as the younger QBs and he won't get to play at LSU?"

Rettig is pretty damn mobile and we aren't going to be an option team with Cam Cameron. We might have a couple read option plays, which I welcome fully to keep the defense honest. We've seen how well that works in college football. Rettig can run those and he has a cannon. Obviously you didn't watch their HS videos. Its not like Jennings is a run first guy, he's a pocket passer as well.

Phillip Rivers is just giving a random reason Stephen is leaving when the real reason is he's just not good enough. I wish him well, but we have brought in some great talent at QB.

I know. Jefferson was not a run first guy either, but we tried to use him as one. Just my concern about Jennings.

Rettig is mobile in the pocket, but I don't think anyone would ever be too worried about him running the read option.

Maybe. I just don't know how anyone could possibly say Rettig/Jennings are better because we haven't really seen them play, or Rivers for that matter. Well, we saw Jennings in the bowl game and it was 2009 offense all over again.

Jefferson had to run because he was allegedly pass first but couldn't pass

I think you believe Rettig is not mobile because he is a white qb. He can move well enough to run our offense.

I'm not saying he isn't mobile, but he ain't running the read option either. He's about as mobile as Aaron Murray, maybe a little less.

Another question....what is our offense? Because it looked like a completely different philosophy in the outback bowl.

That's about about the biggest stretch you could probably make and literally makes no sense.

Rivers is transferring for one reason. He is not as good as the younger guys.

Really your argument carries no weight when you bring up jj. Everything that happened to jj came under a completely different o coordinator.

Considering what Cam did in one year with Lsu's offense, his history in the nfl, and his history with Randall El, nobody has any reason to question his qb decisions. I'm sure he told Rivers where he stood and that's why rivers left.

YES.

Thank you for your extensive research.

On another note... here is some proof that ghosts are among us:

Yup, looked like Les was calling the plays again, instead of Cameron. I don't understand the hard on Les has for Option style quarterbacks. Historically, we are terrible at running the option. I am sure jennings and harris may be throw first QB's, but that isn't going to stop les from using them as a 3rd running back.

I can see the Jefferson years all over again. Hopefully we can rely solely on our defense to bail us out, as we did then.

Well, I'll back the coaches that watch him every day and support their decision. They blessed Rivers transfer because they know he's not the guy they want. What's so hard to understand about that and why is the sky falling because one guy does not fit the system they want to move forward with.
