I'm not saying he isn't mobile, but he ain't running the read option either. He's about as mobile as Aaron Murray, maybe a little less.

Actually Murray did run the read option some in his carreer. Hell he had 87 carries each of his first 2 seasons.

Yup, looked like Les was calling the plays again, instead of Cameron. I don't understand the hard on Les has for Option style quarterbacks. Historically, we are terrible at running the option. I am sure jennings and harris may be throw first QB's, but that isn't going to stop les from using them as a 3rd running back.

This is 100% Cameron's offense. He's in total control of player personnel and playcalling.

Another question....what is our offense? Because it looked like a completely different philosophy in the outback bowl.

I think it's a fair question. I'm sure you'll get tons of smartass answers- but it's a safe bet we'll have a different offense in 2014. We don't have an NFL arm, anymore.

That's what I fear too. It'd be a shame if Malachi and Trey Quinn came her to watch Jennings and Fournette try to offense.

Because the system we "want to move forward with" was a system that Miles is incapable of running. I remember the arguments before, when Crowton was the OC. People would say that it's just Crowton that sucks, and can't run the option. When Crowton leaves, we get Studrawa as OC, and the same inept offense persisted. Which leaves one to believe, that Les was calling the offensive plays.

This past year, we finally had a break to stagnation, with a good QB in Mett, and a great OC in Cameron. We weren't running silly arse options to the near side, or the standard, 1st and 15, dive up the middle. But Miles loves these "dual threat" qb's, but he does not know how to put an effective offensive gameplan behind it.

I guess we'll see exactly who is calling plays again, this year, if we do, indeed go to the option route. I just pray to God, we actually try to develop these qb's into passers, not runners.

You guys crack me up with the same cliches over and over again.

When did I say the sky was falling? I still think we have a chance to go 10-2 as our ceiling next year. That's not sky falling.

Anything less than "LSU #1 OH YEAH!" is considered sky is falling to you guys.

Just like the OC's were since 2007, right?

Of course he did, that's why I used him as an example. But nobody would ever mistake him for an option QB.

Definitely. But we have an NFL-caliber offensive mind calling the shots, with a reputation of tailoring his offenses to best cater to his personnel. There isn't really a "Cam Cameron offense" or a perfect way to describe what our offense will be next year. Depends a lot on the development of our receivers and tight ends (and QBs) in spring/fall, IMO.

I hope the rant can handle how much we're gonna pound the ball next year. It probably can't.

I am hoping this means that Rettig is looking better than Rivers in practice.

Again, I hope Cameron is allowed to run the offense. But knowing Miles' proclivities towards the option style offense, I'm afraid he will try to take the reigns again, and guide us to another offense ranked near dead last in the SEC.

Unless you have a fast QB like Nick Marshall and a hurry up tempo offense, we're going to have to be able to convert 3rd and 7 and 3rd and 9 to win more than 8 games.

Pound the ball all you want, but you gotta be able to throw some.

Well Cameron coached Antwan Randle El at Indiana so I'm sure he is interested in using the best talent he has available to be successful. If that's a dual threat, read option offense, then so be it. He'll still find ways to get his WRs involved. That's actually the great thing about Cam. He's adapted multiple offenses at different levels based on his players' skill sets.

Man, i see why i avoid the rant. Children such as yourself unable to....i actually really don't understand why you are mad.

I'm not criticizing you personally, nor anyone else. I'm simply pointing out facts that we are not very good at running an option style offense. Do you really have your life so invested in LSU football, that the mere questioning of Les Miles' authority causes you anger? Grow up child. Act like an adult.

[quote]That would probably rule Rettig out[/quote

After 3 years if Rettig has yet to see the field (meaningful PT) & the coaches are bringing in primo young QB's left & right who are projected to pass him on the depth chart, basically blueprinting the fact that they don't expect him to figure into the rotation, then yes, Rettig will probably follow the same path as Rivers.

I'd be willing to bet that if Rettig doesn't see the field this year, he's gone.
