I can't help you, but I agree that Mom and Pop stores are great. I love dealing with family businesses.

I stumbled upon Bacon's Tackle in Shreveport a few weeks ago after TClay confirming they are still in business and the last of the brick&mortar stores in the area.
Awesome shop and extremely nice/helpful. I dropped off 2 reels to be cleaned and also dug around and bought a few baits. Prices were on point, if not a few cents cheaper than the usual.
I walked in and mentioned that I did not know he was still in business, he replied "Yes sir I still come to work every day, the big box stores are sending me business left and right".

My wife's mom owned a bait store til she passed away.
People forget low price isn't always the best value. Service that comes with a purchase can make it a much better value.
I shop with folks I know as much as possible because I get good information, repairs, alterations etc along with the purchase.
Unfortunately people see low price at the big box or cheap crap on internet sites and think they ave getting a better value. Maybe, maybe not. I prefer some service with the sale.

Me too, and I think it's just part of being a community. I love to help keep them in business.

Not really "mom and pop" but Superior Bait and Tackle is locally owned.

Not really "mom and pop" but Lake Fork Tackle is a pretty cool shop, very helpful and friendly. Spent enough time there they started giving me their pro staff discount, only 10% but hey I'm not complaining.

Speedy Junction in Sorrento, it's a gas station, but it has more of the baits people are talking about and looking for than craptastic cabelas.

"Ba Da Bing" for live shrimp, right past Gail's in Leeville if she doesn't have any.

if y'all list them, I'll make a list in the OP
it doesn't necessarily have to be a family owned store, just mainly a local bait&tackle shop

i would like to know the percentage of people working in the sports section in wal-mart thatif you walk in and ask them a legit question about a lure, bait, rod/reel, etc.. that would have a a real answer that wouldn't be accompanied by a Eli Manning face*
