What sport has the most all-around talented athletes? ETA: Meaning skillful AND athletic

Somebody in the other thread said basketball, but I would disagree. I don't see many NBA players doing well in baseball, at all.

Football players are strong, fast, and athletic, but again I wonder about the baseball side.

Some baseball players are very athletic and could probably be decent at basketball or football, but then many would be terribly undersized.

Hockey players? Tough, good hand eye coordination, athletic.

I've seen baseball players that were all everything in football. (Think John Elway, Bo Jackson)

I've seen guys play both basketball and football (Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, etc).

I've never seen a hockey player play one of the other big sports, so they lose.

But how will they do in skill sports when it's not all about athleticism?

Many American Hockey players were super stars in Lacrosse in High School. But Hockey like Baseball is something you have to start when you are 8 years old or else you basically have no chance.

Tennis, when played at a high level. Only problem is the physical contact aspect.

Combat sports require the most athleticism and its not close.

The question was which has the best all around athletes, and I think it's basketball. 99% of basketball players are fast, quick, can jump, and are in great shape

Now if the question was which sports athletes could translate to other sports better I might change my pick

As far as a skill and athleticism, I'd have to say either Soccer or Basketball.

Football requires lots of athleticism, but skill is not as highly required.

Baseball requires lots of skill, but athleticism is not as highly regarded.

That all depends on what you consider athletic

I know a guy who trains MMA and fights on a small local scale and he can't dribble a basketball or hit a baseball to save his life. So if hand/eye coordination isn't high on your list then maybe so

Dwight Howard, deandre Jordan, both gasols, ibaka, Anthony Davis, cousins, Lopez, Noah...

Wouldn't call them stiff

ETA: some might not be just a center, was going off of espn fantasy listings for centers

How can you account for such mediocre basketball players being such good football players.

Antonio Gates, Julius Thomas, Jimmy Graham. Julius Peppers, and Greg Hardy were all mediocre college basketball players that are good to great NFL players.

Not a big sport but most hockey players are good at golf.
