i got to the final four in 5th grade. vignette knocked me out. i did outlast the azn kid who was favored going in.

I was one of the last 5 in 5th grade and the damn school bell went off while I was in the middle of a word. It threw me off and I got out. If I'm remembering correctly, it was a really easy word too

Opening word for me in the district spelling bee held in the center of Bon Marche Mall (RIP) was addict. I spelled it A-T-T-I-C and got the bell. I laughed before I spelled it for getting such an easy word but did not ask for another pronunciation or definition

My sons whole class got taken out with the word petal. They all spelled different variations of pedal. Hell, I didn't even know petal was a different word.

Won the Mellow Mushroom adult spelling bee a few years ago. I was insanely drunk, talked shite to everyone in the place, made vulgar remarks into the microphone, then won by beating the girl who signed up right before me and told me that she was going to win easily because she was a great speller. Then I got a trophy made out of Bud light bottles and a $500 gift card to Mellow. Also, I went home with one of their waitresses that night.

The judge even tried to cheat by saying "pe-T-al" and really saying a hard T sound. It was about 25 kids that missed it.

My word was "haggard" and I went with "haggered". This was in 6th or 7th grade & probably my 2nd or 3rd round word. I was overconfident and wished I would have asked them to use it in a sentence.

I'm not kidding. I won every single spelling bee except for one throughout all of elementary school. I was always the kid to beat.
ETA: One of my greatest victories was in the 3rd grade. I spelled "Wednesday". The other girl, Amanda, couldn't spell it.
