What a shite stain of a finale.

frick you Dexter Morgan. Are you serious? A sad lumberjack? What the hell?

I actually didn't mind the last season of the show. It was decent. I didn't really have any expectations.

He didnt deserve Sarah Walker anyways.

I loved the show. Avid watcher for every season. The last season was some of the worst tv I have ever viewed. Just plain awful

It was a great show overall but the writers definitely got lazy at the end.

The last few seasons were definitely not up to par of the first couple.

They left an opening for Dexter to return. He'll obviously be killing off the Rygard crew from Axe Men in the coming years.

I'm a pretty even-keeled guy, but I was truly pissed the rest of the day.
I mean, what the frick?
It made me retroactively angry at the whole show, which I used to adore.

glad I didn't waste my time on it. Didn't make it through the first episode.

Of the first season? You should, just stop watching before the final season. I'd quit after Doaks resolution...won't say what that is, but after that the show wasn't the same.

Series plummeted downhill after the Trinity season.

The showrunners had planned on killing Dexter in the finale all along but Showtime execs wouldn't let them so we got left with that abortion of a series finale.

Showtime wouldn't allow Dexter to die because they were considering a Deb spinoff, which is funny if you saw how the finale played out.

Just watched it. Absolutely terrible. I was all in when he decided to put Deb in the ocean and was thinking he'd go from there to another harbor city, but I thought he'd snag a flight out to Argentina. Stupid.

The whole season was stupid.

The fact that they had Hannah running around without any type of disguise (no hair dye, wig, hat, something) when she was fugitive just showed the ridiculous writing of the last season.

You have seasons of reasonably intelligent characters, then in the last season you re-invent them as a bunch of amateur idiots. Lazy writing.

Yep. And why not just send Hanna away immediately and meet up with her later.

Bingo.

Overall, glad I watched the show. I think my good buddy overhyped it a bit much for me and I had too high of expectations. The only season I truly thought was great was the Trinity season. The others were good, while 7 and 8 were pretty terrible.

I guess I can mark it off the list. Not sure what I'll start next.

Just finished season four last night. Promptly wikipedia'd the rest of the series thereafter. Glad I didn't waste my time on the last four. As much as she annoyed me at times, Rita dying off and Deb finding out about Dexter's relationship to the Ice Truck Killer seemed a fitting ending. Did not expect Rita to get killed at all.

Damn, I wish I had had the knowledge and self-control to do this.

Although I think the first episode of season 5 makes for a good ending.
I just like that episode.

I would have kept watching just to see what happens if the new season of House of Cards didn't just hit Netflix. Once that came out, I marathoned the last five or so episodes of Season 4 of Dexter and then began watching Season 2 of HoC this morning. Was advised by plenty of people to stop watching after season 4 because of how it tanks (by the way, what the frick is up with Deb suddenly developing feelings for Dexter? That's some bullshite).
