I thought they closed???

And then I got an e-mail for WWL with a Crazy Johnnie's Valentine's Day advertisement.

I think they lied to boost business. They laid out the pity party "closing" BS, and they are still going 4 months later. Total bullshite move that they need to be called on publicly.

They never closed.

Sadly, I could see this becoming a trend for older mediocre places.

Much like the Eagles Farewell tour.
Think it's been running for the last 15 years.

Mediocre. Name a better steak in the city at that price point. I'll wait.

I suspect Crazy Johnnies may have struck on the "trend" while the iron was hot. As someone alluded to earlier, it seems like the type of thing that would eventually have the opposite effect, and turn off a customer base and potential customers.

it wasn't exactly thriving if they had to fake close to get more butts in seats.

Not saying it isn't a decent steak, but its far from Ruth's level.

I love how I say at that price point, and Ruth's gets brought up. I would hope a steak that costs double would be significantly better.

My house. Better wine list, too.

I don't dine at mid-level steakhouses. Again, not my type of cuisine.

ETA: Feel free to calm the frick down. I made a simple comment about Crazy Johnnies and you act like I insulted you.

I honestly believe she wanted to close shop, but couldn't pull the trigger when it was time.

i think the point is if i really want an all out steak dinner, i'm going to ruth's. If i want a cheapish steak dinner, i can cook that shite at home in cast iron, and make it taste better than CJ's for less, and I don't have to leave if i have the forethought to grab a couple filets/ny strips on the way home

My point is the food is not mediocre.

And if you've made the decision to eat out, you likely aren't worried about if you could do it better at home for the same cost. Which is I said "at that price." It shouldn't be compared to traditional steakhouses, because you can't compare the prices.

But name another steakhouse that gives you a crabapple with your steak.

Then you can't compare the steaks either. Crazy Johnnies serves mediocre steaks, and their prices reflect that. No biggie.

Except they don't. And if that's your idea of mediocre, you must be impossible to please. No one is saying they are Ruth's or better quality, but mediocre is a pretty strong word.
