Could Krewe du Vieux and All-Star weekend together be a problem?

Just realized that the big night for All-Star events downtown and around the quarter is Saturday night. Krewe du Vieux has drawn increasingly large crowds every year to where they are now almost a major parade.

The weather looks really good for Saturday which could make the crowds even larger.

I'm not so sure the crowds for those two events would mix so well.

Yeh...I mean we only handle final fours, superbowls, mardi gras, jazz fest, etc. What does nola know about big crowds?

Should be fine. I doubt out of towners even know about the parade. Most have plans already

The Monroe MG parade is Saturday night too. Good chance the whole state becomes gridlocked.

If the city can survive the Bayou Classic, it can survive this

New orleans sucks at a lot of things, but dealing with big crowds is not on of them. There are usually murders fairly close to where big crowds are, but that's just part of the culture of nola that makes it so unique.

This is true. If a combination of Southern and Grambling fans can't destroy a city to it's ruins, then no hurricane, parade crowd, or anything else will.

I think they can co-exist. Many tourists won't even know a parade is going on (they think mardi gras is one day).

This.

Generally the KDV is running in the Marigny and lower quarter and is attended mostly by locals. It's an awesome crowd.

People seem to associate the NBA all-star game with problem people, but the only real problem crowd at any game I can recall was when some gang bangers from Los Angelas drove to Las Vegas and caused trouble.

There will be no problems like this in N.O. this weekend.
