He's certainly a grump, but so is Pokey. It's by far the best pizza in the city. It's one of the few that I crave. I found calling it in when I leave my house in Gonzales works wonders for my enjoyment. I don't think it is a sustainable business, and that saddens me greatly. The only thing that cheers me up a little is the new Dolce Vita location coming back to BR.

I just went by and read the sign. His mom is inow in a nursing home and his sister has cancer. He is closed for 2 weeks to go see them. Poor Barry, I wish him well.

Definitely both. He needs a GM and to let go of some of the stuff that other people can do.

Weren't several of his employees family though? So if there's some family emergency, safe to assume they are out of town as well?

No offense, but I call BS. Mama Della's margherita is probably the best pizza in Baton Rouge.

No offense taken.. Everyone has their personal opinion.

Perhaps I happened to get a bad pizza, I don't know. It just didn't have much flavor to offer. I was not impressed. Perhaps the margherita just isn't the style of pizza I would enjoy? I would eat fast food 'big chain' pizzas (and have) time and time again before the margherita I had at Momma Della's. I don't eat pizza frequently enough to risk eating pizza I won't like.

LL, the pizza I got from there looked very much like the picture you posted...

This is the margherita I had from there a couple weeks ago.

All of your Instagram foods and beers look super delicious... damn filters

I may give the place another try sometime.. But I was thoroughly underwhelmed when i went. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I'd hoped it'd be. It's entirely possible that, after watching the show, I was too excited about the place.

True B&M. Previous post I made about it, includes link to the NOLA.com story.
