what is with the lack of help side rotation lately

While our rotation has been suspect at points during the season these last two games have just been horrific when it comes to any sort of rotation and particular help.
If we are bound and determine to be lazy and switch screens (or inexplicably chasing around the screen) and have a big man trying to keep up with a guard off the corner, the offside help has got to be there and its has hardly shoqn up y all. Their guards are getting to the goal with very limited obstruction. I would rather just have our defender go under the screen and make the guards beat up with 15 ft jumpers. Anything is betger than the layup practice. It would cut down on our fouls a ton as we dont have to hit them so much at rim.
But if we are going to be insane and hope that eventuslly job can keep up with a guard can we please practice bringing our helpside over.
The zone hid this for awhile but today in particular johnny and micky were very lazy on even zone rotation(zone defense can enciurage lazy d when team shows lazy d tendencies).
Just frustrating that if we arent pressing and causig havoc (disciplime teams can beat our press as we dont really have great rotation on this but our atheletiscm can cause some teams to panic and help us out) thrn we arent going to have intensity on d.
If we ever want to win on the road we need to not let our offense determime how hard we play defense and rely on our defense to get us xome easy pointx.
Hopefully Jones can fix this pathetic defense thats been around lastfew games. Have a bad feeking about Wednesday,. This team tends to think we are good enough just to show up sometimes

I am with you on this, we don't rotate very well at all on d and the last two games have been the worst of the season. I notice we spend a lot of time on d standing straight up and just not generally ready for anything.

Our zone D is very lazy. We allow passes inside the paint with extreme ease.

Auburn today uad a vey active zone taking away the high pass until we worked for it. We are mlre thsn willing yo give up the high post middle of zone pass.
Also drives me nuts when we do get ball high post in middle of zone whoever is on low block never steps over bottom of zonefor a one on one post up and entry pass from high post

Auburn ran the 2-3 zone better than us. Auburn attacked the 2-3 better than us. Auburn out worked us. LSU had more god given talent on the court last night & won because of it. Playing D & paying attention to detail has to be a culture. I don't see that culture. Now who is the blame our players or the coach? I can't answer that. A solid LSU that gets exposed on the road. Don't get me wrong, I like the direction of the team. I would like the mental mistakes & effort on D to improve.

While the game at UGA was called unnecessarily tight, LSU doesn't help themselves out by constantly being out of position, or (like you said) generally just being flat-footed on D. Poor defensive position is going to lead to fouling. You watch them play and you almost feel that the mindset is "I don't have to bust my arse out here because Mickey will just clean up everything at the rim." They'll never win with any consistency on the road if they don't defend. Period!

The way the refs are calling the games lately with ticky tack bull crap touch fouls, we are probably playing scared. Sad but true. I realize that defense is all about moving your feet but what good does that do when the ref is intent on blowing the whistle every chance they can? It's almost like the refs have a quota of fouls they need to call each game. The college basketball game is getting harder and harder to watch because of the new rule changes. Refs can dictate games ANY TIME THEY WANT. Pitiful.

This team knows their dream of making the field is over. They mailed it in on D yesterday. D is all about effort. Anybody can play hard with the ball in their hands . I would expect this type of play to continue and at the end we may not legible for NIT. Very disappointed in CJJ to not be able to reach these kids and motivate them this year.

Quite possibly one of the worsts posts I have ever read. Do you really think that this team will not even make the NIT when they are on the bubble right now to make the NCAA tourney? You don't know hoops or how they pick the teams that will be in the tourney. I hope you are just ignorant and not stupid. Just.... wow.

When you say "lately" do you mean ALL SEASON?

The help man has been there for the most part but he's giving up too early on the help so he ends up practically making a lane for the guy driving to the basket. There's a fine line between staying with the help and getting back to your man before the driver dishes him a pass to an open spot. I have a feeling there's been a large emphasis on not allowing open looks but it's gotten to where we're giving it to them anyway and it's a higher percentage shot.
