California School Black History Month Lunch Menu
Cornbread and Chicken without any kind of beans?
Where can you get watermelon in February?
I have been eating "black" food?
My mama never told me that.

I'm just saying you can get watermelon most of the year near the west coast. Maybe not a whole melon, but you can easily find sliced watermelon.

there is actually a historical reason for fried chicken. It was a traditional slave meal for a long period of time since slaves were allowed their own chickens (sometimes).
watermelon is pretty racist though.

It is not a racial stereotype because a freight train couldn't haul the chicken and watermelon this white has eaten. Fried chicken was like ramen noodles at my house growing up.

I would have had ZERO problem with this. Soul Food is a major part of black culture, and its existence is a historical testament to the resourcefulness of black slaves. Massa only leaves us with the pig feet and chitlins? That's a tasty meal!
