Is it too late? Does it even matter?

Won't matter unless you plan on extending drain intervals or changing driving habits/conditions is a serious way.

+1

I run Royal Purple or Mobil 1 EP to extend my range. I hate changing my oil so I figure doing it less frequently is a plus.

Sold.

I just started changing my oil the last two times.

1) It's about as easy a oil change there is on the Titan.
2) I now trust ZERO oil change shops, especially the $20-40 ones. I have had too many of these places try and screw me over with putting maybe 4-5 qts when it needs seven. Last time Meineke (sp?) told me I needed like 2k in extra work done They said I needed front and rear differential fluids changes, new pads and calipers, and something else I forget. I end up changing my front/rear differential fluids and they were perfectly fine, but no biggie, that never hurts. Then I buy pads and calipers and break it down and get to em and the pads have more thread on the, than the new pads. I was pretty pissed, but feel bad for people that places like that are in business and screwing people over everyday I'm sure.

Another reason is if you want to run a few OCI's of synthetic to do an engine flush. I've had a couple of older cars that I ran a batch of Pennzoil Ultra through and it really cleans out the varnish after about 15k miles or so.

I wouldn't put this stuff on a bicycle chain. We had some very bad results using this stuff at work.

I like RP gear oil. It holds up pretty damn well. Don't use the regular oil though. I was using Amsoil in my last gas truck, but switched to Rotella T for my diesel.

I use Castrol high mileage stuff on this Tahoe with 150k. The high mileage stuff has some seal conditioning agents in it that keep the engine tighter. Don't know if it works because I am not an oil engineer.

I do run Lucas HD every other change during the winter though. It keeps it from semi-knocking when I start it up cold. shite is as thick as cold honey

I ran it when I could get 5W-30 RP for about $5/quart. DOHC engines have turned it great results with it and it's a very clean oil even compared with M1.

Hmmmm...I've always used Amsoil in my dirt bikes but after reading through some of those test they did I may switch it to my truck and wife's car.

This is what I heard from somebody so don't shoot the messenger.

They said if you ran regular oil for a long time that when you switch to synthetic you might have problems with leaking since the synthetic is not as viscous.

I run synthetic because of stop and go traffic in BR and I'm lazy and want to extend the time between.

I do mobil1 high mileage or whatever. Change every 9 months or 10k. Usually hit 9 months first. I've read that synthetics have more detergents and if you just start putting it in after Dino for a ton of mileage there is a chance of clogging. I put a mix the first time or two and then went straight synthetic.

180,000 miles on a Tacoma, cheap Castrol 5w-30, $3.00 fram filter, change when oil is looking dirty, no smoke, no leak, minimal oil loss......keep on keeping on.

Consensus seems to be nothing.

I've never been brand specific but I'll probably switch to high mileage now that I think about it.
