In the wake of Philip S Hoffman's death to a heroin overdose there will be a lot cries to help get people more treatment options, etc...but honestly, why not just make it all legal and let the chips fall where they may? Hoffman admittedly started with marijuana and then graduated to the good stuff. IF we are legalizing Mary Jane, why stop there?

If cocaine was legalized, it wouldn't make me more likely to use it.

Cocaine being illegal has nothing to do with my lack of desire to use it.

Drugs being illegal prevents NO ONE from using them, if anything, it makes it easier for minors to abuse them.

I helped out 3 kids this morning with some stuff - all in their 20's - all on drugs. They're trying to pay their light bill by picking up scrap metal anywhere they can get it.

frick legalizing all drugs.

Not true. I know a lot of people who don't do drugs (or don't do drugs often) because they are scared of getting arrested.

Dude had all the money in the world. If he wanted to be treated he could have been treated.

I still have a hard time envisioning the actual logistics of how this would work.

What sort of companies do you envision would be lining up to "legally" sell IV grade smack for recreational use?

Absolutely. We pretend like these ideas don't exist in real world manifestations but we can look to Portugal to see that this approach works. Ten years shows that treating addiction as a medical issue instead of a crime works for society.
