I work out 5 days a week and off Saturday and Sunday. Work one body part each day and do light cardio. I probably have about 15 pounds of fat I need to drop but goal is to drop it slowly while putting on a muscle and getting in better shape. Question I have is I am eating alot of protien and calories each day drinking whey and all like I should do. But what do you do on Saturday and Sunday? Cut back on all the eating since you are not lifting those days or continue with the protien 5 or so meals a day? Thanks in advance to the Bro's that lift?

I would eat the same and do "heavy" cardio on Saturday and Sunday.

I always lower my caloric intake on days I do not exercise. Are you trying to lose weight or trying to lose body fat though?

Lose bodyfat. I am 6'3" 235. I am not that concerned with my wieght but don't want to drop the extra fat too quickly.

In the past if I try to lose fat too fast I always seem to lose muscle and get weaker. I would be happy with a pound or so a week.

What about advice from fat guys who eat really clean but lack portion control?

Are you eating to be healthier and put on muscle...or just put on muscle? They aren't the same.

Cutting sodium intake, refined sugar, and bad cholesterol do wonders for your health.

Set your macros and try to hit them consistently for the week. 33% for each seems to be both cost effective and healthy.

My last blood test, my fat arse had perfect BP and Cl.

Actually, going back to measuring everything I eat this morning. Dropped 30lbs so far. 75 more to go.

Then I'd just cut back on the weekend to be honest. I only take my supplements after I lift and occasionally use them as a meal replacement on off days.

Lifting is a yin/yang activity. Resting is just as important, if not more important, than lifting. The answer is you need to get your diet figured out to where you're losing a half lb a week. This will mean you eat the same macros on your rest days.

I am eating to be healthier and put on muscle. I turn 40 this year and have always worked out off and on or did P90x and have had 2 shoulder surgeries in between that slowed me down or just worked too much so have had stops in between. I generally have always watched what I ate but at times slip for a while.

With turning 40 and have a dad that passed away at 50 with heart attack really makes me say I need to stay with it.

Drop your calories on off days. Usually eliminating pre and post workout nutrition is enough.

If you're eating high carb on lifting days you can cut those on non lifting days as well.

Who said anything about resting?

South I am 41 and with you working out 5 days a week it shouldn't be a problem eating what you want on weekends. I mean don't overdulge on junk but hell if you want ice cream why not. If you overdo it just stay in the gym a little longer and workout a little harder.

My resting point adds to the nutrition point. Thanks for being a douche, though.

What's your definition of light cardio?

To shed 1lb (not just water) you have to have a calorie deficit of 3500.

Calculate your basic metabolic rate (how much you would burn if you slept all day). Calculate your calorie burn while sleeping, your calorie burn while doing cardio and lifting and your calorie burn doing the rest of your awake activities.

Take in 500 cals less than that number per day to lose a good 1lb per week.
