How much do you tip waiter or waitress?

My wife says 15-20%... I say WTF! I only give Jesus 10% why am I gonna give the democrat serving me more than that? Was it always socially accepted to give this much... I remember when I was younger my parents used to tip 10%. Why has it gone up? The price of food has went up so the percentage should have stayed the same right?

usually 20% if they do a good job. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years so I have a soft spot for servers.
