for killing teammate while driving drunk.

LINK

quote:

Prosecutors told jurors that the burly, 320-pound lineman had as many as 17 drinks on the night of the crash.

One of Brent's attorneys, George Milner, argued that Brent wasn't drunk and was only "guilty of being stupid behind the wheel of a car." He contended that Brent couldn't have had nearly as much to drink as prosecutors said he had, and that the police blood tests were flawed.

Not surprised at all.

The mother of the guy who died forgave Brent for what happened.

This.

Jerry Brown's mother sat with the Brent family and even took the stand for Brent. You can't give him a huge sentence when the dead's mother is that supportive of him

Ya, wasn't the guy who was killed hammered too? If I recall correctly, she just accepted her son was just as much at fault as Brent was and probably would have died if he had driven instead or something like that.

180 is still pretty damn light though.

I wonder if Brown's mother had anything to do with the light sentence. I remember reading somewhere that Brent was like another son to her due to him and Brown being so close.

I just gained a TON of respect for her.

That takes a lot of love.

The stallworth situation was different. A guy ran in front his car and he wasnt near as wasted as Brent was. He would have killed the guy if he was sober

Prosecutors are pushing for prison time for Brent, who went to trial only weeks after another Texas intoxication manslaughter case sparked widespread public outrage. In that case, a defense expert argued that the defendant, a 17-year-old boy who caused a drunken crash that killed four people, deserved leniency because his parents coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility - a condition the expert termed "affluenza." The teen wasn't given prison time.

just read this in the article...wtf

Stallworth claims that he flashed his car's headlights to warn Reyes before striking him.

He had a chance to be more careful, he wasn't. 30 days is an absolute joke.

Stallworth had .12 and marijuana was in his system. He wasn't in the best shape.
