And the lines of 18 wheelers waiting to cross bridge is crazy too!

Why is old bridge open, but not new bridge?

Another reason why BR is so fricked up. Literally choking businesses all across the south with their inability to deal with a little cold weather.

Are they afraid an accident might cause traffic delays?...F'n idiots. St. Police and DPW should be have their asses raped for this nonsense.

take it down to one lane with speeds of only 10mph and that would be better than full closure.

This is a pic of Government St. from WAFB's FB page:

I guess they took the old bridge, but then since I-110 is closed they had to take Scenic towards Government so they could try to hook back up to I-10 E?

It's not just BR though--there are road closures everywhere, mostly where bridges iced over, but some where accidents did occur. DOTD website All those red circles are road closures.

Right now I think the only place to cross the river (except maybe New Orleans or Natchez) is the old MS River bridge in Baton Rouge, because the new bridge, Sunshine bridge, and the Audubon bridge are all closed.

Still not sure why they couldn't prep the new bridge before it iced though, or dump a bunch of salt on it earlier.
