the disappearance of the variety show. You've no idea what it was like to be forced to watch that crap. Captain and Tenille thread made me thank of that.

It can't be as bad as reality TV.

Yes, because a variety show is worse than a bunch of Armenian counts whining at each other over scripted drama, while their NBA husbands sit back and watch their careers become a joke

The Carol Burnett show was great.

And I still watch Hee Haw.

I don't really get why we don't see any more of them today.

How does Lawrence Welk still show up (syndication)? I remember my mom and grandmother loving that show when it was current in the 1950s (and on Saturday nights being forced to watch it with them, or watch nothing at all).

I have nightmares about that show and those fricking bubbles. I hated that damn show. One TV household, no cable, no recourse.

Man we thought Reggie was some state of the art shite. Waiting up all night to dial in at 3 am. Sitting in the union for 12 hours to get a phone with direct line.

I remember saying this to the school mandate that we get tiger accounts. "what the hell will I ever use email for? If I want to write letter to someone in California I'll mail them. Or call them if I need to talk to them." SMH at my 1995 perspective.

No lie...some of the Time Conway/Harvey Korman skits are pure, old school comedy gold.
