I'm not so happy with the plastic in the bed, namely the tailgate and the bed rails. I'm thinking of changing it all out to metal but I'm trying to convince myself not to spend the money.

I'm mostly scared of the tailgate, really afraid I'll bend the shite out of it. $250 for a metal reinforcing piece that wraps around the top...but then I have an unmatched rail. Looks like around $150 for steel bed rails. Trying to stay away from diamond plate...

Probably buy a softopper soon, and I want to do the install at the same time...Gotta figure out how to get the hardware the topper to be black.

When I retire, I will have a Tacoma like vehicle for my hunting / outdoor activities.

I think they are perfect for my deer/duck/camp/kick fire/other outdoor related activities.

I can retire in 24 years.....

Anybody in here have kids/babies and drive one? Looking to purchase a truck soon but will also have plans for kids. I want to know if the back seats have enough room for a car seat.

I have two kids. 14 & 9. Have had mine for 7 years now. No issues with hauling kids.

One shouldn't be a problem. I 1 in a booster and 2 in carseats right now and that's my problem with one.

Tacomas are nice trucks. Why would someone not want to admit they drive one?

I love my Tacoma. Does everything I ask it to.

ETA: What in the hell are you doing that you're worrying about your truck bed and tailgate bending?

They're just bad mouthed as not being full sized, but at a full sized price. IDK, F150 owners hate on the 'toy' truck size.

What the hell are your scared of? I have thrown concrete, construction debris, bricks, ice chests, fishing gear, kayaks, furniture, and many other things back there. The plastic bed liner doesn't even scratch. The only thing I don't like about it is how much things tend to slide. You have to secure everything with a strap if you don't want it rolling around.

I've also strapped loads of lumber against the tailgate and secured with ratchet straps. No bends, dents, or scratches.

Or should I just go full size and forget about it? Is the gas mileage that much better?
