That is incredible

Shocker this happened, you know since John Tortorella is such a calm, level headed person.

that is pretty funny. i like the one canuck (#54) that skates around looking for someone. then finally, him and another guy just grab each other

Damn, I wish they would let Hartley and Tortorella fight each other. That would be hysterical.

I watched the video....but I still fail to understand what caused this to happen. Something about the starting lineup? Someone with knowledge please explain.....

I believe it's bc one of the teams was starting their fourth line, and the other team responded by starting their fourth line.... Obviously some hold over from a previous game or games. Each starting line was chosen to start for the purpose of kicking the other teams arse.

Eta: the deadspin article did a little better job of explaining... Calgary was the visiting team and released their starting lineup first (which was really their fourth line).... The Canucks answered by doing the same. This shite was basically decided before the match.

How can anyone take the NHL seriously? Looking forward to Olympic hockey since it's watchable.

What? The last true sport in the US where the winner is decided by the players and not the refs that night. Get a clue.

Didn't see it in the video, so what happened when they resumed play? Was it just goalie on goalie for 2 minutes?

A good brawl in hockey is one thing. This was just stupid. No provocation. No anger about something done on the ice. Just send out 10 goons for pro wrestling matches.

Game misconducts....so it was the goalies one-on-one the whole game.

i'm willing to bet in 100+ years of hockey, some ref somewhere in some podunk town on a frozen pond didn't know the rules, and that's exactly what happened

So what are the rules when that many are thrown in the penalty box? Hockey is fun to watch but I'm deaf to the rules.

ESPN- the penalty boxes looked like a packed yugo going to a frat party.
