Is this even a real question? Of course they're fricking trashy. But sea travel is trashy in general. Boats, submarines, jet-skis, these are the travel methods of trash.

Who wants to be herded like cattle onto a cramped ship and be stuck eating golden corral buffets for a week and sold watered down $15 cocktails?

Just. Say. No.

I don't know about trashy. Just kind of lame though, get out and explore/live a little.

I feel the same way about all inclusives though.

There are still some places you can only travel to by ship, at least as a tourist. Although if there is a place to find intrepid souls who hot air balloon to Antarctica, swim to the Galápagos Islands, and kayak through the Panama Canal, it would be the OT.

People that call other people events places trashy are fairly trashy themselves.

I don't understand why people would go on one. The rooms are tiny, it's packed, you are stuck on there like prison going where someone else takes you, choosing from the limited proscribed entertainment options they offer you (and probably fighting other people to do so) eating their overpriced Ryan's Steakhouse bullshite, getting raped for drinks because they have a monopoly on them while you are there. Then you go to some port for a limited amount of time and over-run it with fellow passengers. No way.

frick "all inclusive" places too. That's like transporting the goddamn suburbs to the tropics. May as well just go to the neighborhood swimming pool and put up some tiki torches.

Get a ticket to the capital city of Belize or Costa Rica and then another to an island or beach town there. Then get a room in a small hotel or beach casita. Then rent a quad or off-road golf cart and pick where YOU want to eat and set up excursions and charters to go do and see things YOU want to do. All the bars will have normally priced drinks with normal pours. You can go into town and buy your own food and cook it if you want. You won't be stuck around honeymooners or drunk kids. You won't be stuck in a cabin.

That was pretty much my experience. I'll never go on a second cruise.
