I believe open carry will be banned...

I see a time when laws will be changed to allow only CC, no open carry. Simply because we have all these idiots who, lawfully for now, walk the streets brandishing every kind of weapon known to man, including AK's. Just because they can.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the right to bear arms, but if people, trying to prove a point continue to do this, then their will be an outcry from the public to stop such open carry.
Reason being their is now no way to distinguish between the good guy open carrying or the bad guy open carrying. So, the police are left to try and figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad. Laws will change, imho, to all concealed carry and we will in part have these idiots to thank. I'm primarily talking about the guys carrying AK's in downtown cities, just so they can.
I conceal carry every day, but still don't want people walking down the street with AK's, unless I know they are the good guys.
All "concealed carry" laws would allow police and normal citizens to identify the bad guys more easily.
I just feel these idiots are going to ruin it for the rest of us who conceal carry, because when they legislate to make all carry concealed then it only leads to wanting to eliminate carry all together.
imho.....

I've always believed open carry is a bad idea.

The only problem with outlawing open carry is when would it be enforced? Obviously, you can carry while hunting. So, when will the line be drawn? Public places? Public streets?

Or bad guys.

It is fine for small towns and rural areas, there is very little reason to have a gun on your hip in a large town or city...

right cause you will be the first target in a hostile situation.

Public places? Public streets?
I think this is the only plausible answer.

Huh?

I guess it depends on your reasons and your company. I don't have a problem with open carry in most places, but in COSTCO would seem a bit ridiculous.

Ok (and I am not arguing with you, just talking this through - devil's advocate), so what is a "public" place? 2 people? 5 people? If I am in a park by myself is that public? What about national forests?
I don't know what the answer is but it is a quagmire.
All I know is that the idiots that are going around provoking people are doing a lot more harm than good.

Open carry just makes it harder for law enforcement officers to do their jobs.

If I met a guy in the woods in the middle of Winn Parish and he had a pistol on his hip or a rifle on his back, I probably wouldn't even notice. Same guy at a grocery store and I might walk to the other side of the store.

He is saying if you are open carrying in a convenience store, for instance, and some TPOS comes in to rob the store who do you think he is going to shoot first? If you have your weapon concealed odds are you will have an opportunity to react and have at least a small margin of surprise.

Like totally shaven? Or a landing strip?

I dont think many tpos open carry. I could be wrong though.

Also, never underestimate the power of surprise. I can't stress this enough.

I guess in some situations I agree. I'll refrain from giving my whole thoughts on the matter because it probably wouldn't be too popular here.

Buffoons open carrying ARs in Starbucks aren't really helping the cause, FWIW.
No need to be intentionally incendiary.

I agree it is a quagmire. We can agree probably that streets, parks, stores, ballparks, etc. are all public.
