The only problem with outlawing open carry is when would it be enforced? Obviously, you can carry while hunting. So, when will the line be drawn? Public places? Public streets?

A lot of states don't allow open carry as it is. Can only open carry in a very limited number of circumstances, including when hunting, or while traveling to/from hunting locations, or while on property controlled by the person carrying.

Buffoons open carrying ARs in Starbucks aren't really helping the cause, FWIW.

No need to be intentionally incendiary.

This is the point exactly. Liberals will use this bufoonery to then justify other limitations on gun rights.

I have to wonder if this customer would have had a chance to shoot if he'd been open-carrying.

I wish we could make it a law that bad guys can only open carry. Not conceal.

Oh wait....never mind.

I have no problem with open carry. But your right the ak's in Starbucks didn't help the cause. Carry if you need to. But not in spite of.

I agree with you that the guys that open carry rifles to make a statement are not doing us any favors. However, I think what he was saying by the Somalia comment is that it's not widespread. I know I've never seen it, and I don't think ANYONE I know has either. You can find videos on YouTube of course.

I understand that....but whether its wide spread or not is a moot point. The liberals will use the isolated and rare cases to brand all gun rights advocates as bafoons to push their agenda to rid society of all guns.

It is our quarterly 'Open Carry Thread!'

I look forward to this every few months.

No team could have overcome that monsoon / stiff dew in LA that night.

I can understand your pride. It is always great to get an early win against the eventual SEC Champion.

Lots of good comments.

But I'll lay 10:1 odds that the La. legislature will never (in our lifetimes) ban open carry.
We have the most pro-gun legislature in the US.

The real question is, "Under the new "strict scrutiny" amendment, will the state courts toss out our CCW regulations as being unconstitutional ?
