Gunman in Dollar Store shot and killed by CC customer

quote:
Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman Jr. says the gunman walked into the store waving a gun in the air and forced a cashier and customer at gunpoint towards a break room area. At that point, the customer pulled out a concealed weapon and shot the suspect in the chest once. The gunman was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges have been brought up yet. Be interesting to see if the media gets ahold of this and if any charges are brought up.

Serious question, what charges could be brought up? Was the guy he shot black?

That sheriff sounds like a real candyass. A guy is waving a gun around and he gets shot. What are we supposed to do, wait and get shot first?
Alabama has some messed up CCW laws.

The guy who shot him was being held at gunpoint by the robber and being escorted into the back, he turned and pulled the gun from his concealed iwb holster and shot the guy in the chest. I doubt any charges are brought on this man, and if they are we should protest!

Protocol will be to present to the grand jury. I expect it will be a justifiable homicide. I am disappointed in the statement by the sheriff, in that he feels deadly force may not be justified when an armed individual is forcing people out of sight.

quote:Probably not, but the Sheriff's attitude demonstrated by some of his comments in the story, is troubling.
,,,and if any charges are brought up.
quote:Uh, NO. At gun point, the bad guy FORCED the customer and cashier toward a break room.
"He escorted a customer and a cashier toward a break room…"
quote:Not really accurate. The story says the sign against OPEN carry was there the next day, but does not say the sign was there at the time of the self-defense shooting. In addition, the sign only indicates that OPEN carry is not welcome at the store; that does not apply to concealed carry.
"But you have a sign in a place of business, that's letting you know that the people inside that place of business do not want guns in there," the sheriff said.
quote:AL laws may be different, but in most states, a case is not presented to the Grand Jury unless the prosecuting attorney has a reasonable expectation that a crime has been committed. Even though the investigation hasn't been completed, the Sheriff's already decided it'll go to the Grand Jury.
"Sheriff Huffman says his department's findings would be turned over to a grand jury for review."
quote:The motive certainly was evil.
"The gunman's motive remains unclear. Sheriff Huffman does not think it was a robbery."
