Expect JG to get top TE money which is at least $54,000,000/6 years thanks to the Patriots emptying their piggy banks for Gronk.

For arguments sake, let's give him the same money.

In order for this to work...

Cut
Malcolm Jenkins, Will Smith, Victor Butler, and Patrick Robinson

Restructure
Roman Harper and Ben Grubbs or just restructure Drew Brees contract

OR

Franchise Tag him which will cost us around $7-$8 million

It is going to be interesting to see how they manage this team for next season and how they will resign him but it will cripple us in the next four years if we do.

Sorry guys but you can't build a team around two offensive players.

This is the biggest problem and why I think they'll tag him at least one season to buy time to restructure and shuffle contracts.

What does it cost to keep him? I was excited to see what he would do this year and looking forward to seeing him perform next year.

Jenkins is a FA, and both Butler and Robinson are inexpensive.

Harper and Grubbs are likely to be restructured, so I agree with that.

I said in a different thread that Smith and Greer are almost certain to be gone, as well as one of Sproles and Thomas. Potentially both.

But by cutting Greer, the team saves more than they would by letting go of Butler and Robinson.

Then again, I was going by the chart that you recently made, and I assume I interpreted it correctly.

He'll get at least 9mil, maybe 10-12mil if we're hybridizing him.

He may catch a lot of balls and is a giant, but he isn't top receiver money.

Calvin johnson - 16.2mil
larry fitzgerald - 16.1mil
percy harvin - 12.85mil
mike wallace - 12mil
dwayne bowe - 11.2mil
marshall - 11.2mil
vjax - 11.1mil
desean jackson - 9.7mil

Or we go Belichik style, trade him for a first and get a player that costs a quarter of what Graham will cost?

Make it happen FO!

Certainly he lost some money for being a giant, shite talking puss in Seattle.

I seriously was pumped before the game. I wanted Jimmy to throw those dudes around, but the best he could do was throw a hissy fit after being held. You're 6'7 270. How do you not run over everyone?

I still don't see why we need to pay him more because he doesn't know how to block.

Dude, we're going to be a run first/defense heavy team. No worries.

I don't want to pay a TE that kind of money who isn't on the field every play we run a TE set.

His rotation on and off the field pretty much guarantees whether or not we're running or passing. He fades into the sunset whenever DB's get physical at the line of scrimmage. 6'7" and you're being pushed around by a guy 6'0"? Inexcusable, he has some work to do this off season if he wants a payday like Gronk.

This is my favorite option, let's see what he does next year then decide.

I've read the tag for a te is just over 6 mil. But for a wr it's 10.4 mil. I could see these negotiations getting really snippy.

Which is why the Saints might tag him and then let him go next year if we can't afford him. But someone in the NFL is def going to give him that much money, guarantee it.
