I don't follow recruiting, so excuse my ignorance. Most elite athletes are very similar...big, strong, fast, etc.

Just curious from people who have seen alot of these prospects, what seperates Fournette from the rest of the great HS RBs?

Also, I know people hate to compare up-and-comers to all-time or current NFL greats, but is his running style and talent reminiscent of anyone before him?

He's 6'1 220 and runs as fast as track stars 40 pounds lighter.

I actually laughter at track meets last year, he was close to winning many, competing against kids way smaller

He has no real weakness.
Speed, power, lateral movement and balance, cuts. He can do it all.
Just watch his videos.

There is not much Fournette does not do at a very high level. He is a running back with a great blend of power and speed. He can run with force, but he can also make a defender miss in the open field. He does a great job of setting up defenders, he hits the hole quickly, and he is very good at getting those yards after contact. Most look at Fournette and they may question his quickness and agility, but don't. - Chad Simmons

Area of improvement, blocking (which is easily learned by a man of his stature and skill).

In addition to all the physical tools that make a great player great..... Fournette is mentally sound and that's a huge part to his game

He's competitive, his personality brings out the best in his teammates and he wants to do well and represent Louisiana and his family to the highest degree

If there was a ranking for impact on the program ... He would be ranked number one or recieve the highest rating ... We will pull more kids because of him than anyone else we will sign or have signed since Patrick Peterson

I don't follow recruiting either. However, I watched this video the other day and the run starting at about the 44 sec mark had me in awe. I have never seen anyone run like this straight out of high school. He really does look like AP.

Gotta be kidding me...

Why don't you take a look at his measurements, 6-2, all of 226 lbs. He's already NFL size. And it's muscle.

Others are bigger, but not even in his stratosphere as far as speed (4.40 40). Others are faster but nowhere near as big.

Look at his highlights and remember that he's 6'2'' and 226 lbs.

There are a lot of things that seperates him from other high school RBs.

1st thing is that he is a border line football prodigy. Offered by LSU and Alabama as a true freshman. And its not just because he was a productive RB early on in high school. Its how he got those yards. As a freshman he was 6'1 210lbs and was more physical, faster, and just flat out better than everyone else he played against. And only got better and better each year.

Hes got all the stats and numbers that you want. As a true freshman on varsity he had 174 rushes for 1734 yards (9.97ypc) and 22 TDs. Ran for over 2000 yards and 31 TDs as a JR. Been the most dominant player in the state for 4 straight seasons.

Hes also got NFL size right now, to go along with great speed. I think hes a 10.6 in the 100m dash. And for a kid with LF size, thats blazing.

I never say that there are high school kids that can go straight to the NFL, but LF is the only guy that I think could do that. Size, speed, attitude, mentality, etc. Hes the total package already. Hes got everything you want in a RB.

Obviously the AP comparison gets thrown out there. But its true. Hes the best RB prospect to come out since AP. And thats saying something. I also like the comparison that hes a blend of Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall from UGA, aka as "Gurshall". Hes got the size, physicality, power, and tackle breaking skills that Gurley has. But hes also got the speed, moves, and a little more shake in his game like Marshall does.

Hes just as rare as they come out of high school. And its not just the fact that hes a senior in high school in an NFL RBs body. Hes very mature on and off the field. His mindset and attitude is that of an NFL player. Scouts and analysts say hes the #1 player in the nation at RB, but he would also be a top 20 player in the nation as a LB. Hes just as special and rare as they come.

The potential to be an All American at RB, LB, WR or S doesn't come around often.
