People keep talking about depth at DE/DT but I remember all 4 were highly touted out of HS. Also LSU (and most schools prob) have a history of RS DLs in order for them to get up to the size/strength needed to be SEC. Freak obviously is not the norm but he basically was fully matured physically out of HS.

Does the staff view these guys as busts? Seems like we will have inexperience at DT tho QT and CL did get plenty of snaps this yr, but we should have talent there.

Thoughts?

They gave them a year to add weight, muscle, and technique. All 3 along with Patterson will play a ton next year and have a impact, along w/ Micky Johnson, Lacatoure, & Q. Thomas!

Locoture looked good for a true freshman, expect him to be much better this coming season and QT seems serviceable. Just got to wait and see on Herron, Bain, and Gilmore. People forget about Mickey Johnson, have no clue how he is doing, perhaps a bust.

Hold on! I am not saying they are busts but with all the Willis gloom and doom had me thinking that I was missing something.

Seems to me we should just have inexperienced but talented DT depth next yr.

What about Bower? I know people were pumped to get him and Florida wasn't happy about not getting him

It's easier to forget who we already have than it is to forget the ones we didn't get...

I think Confucius said that...

DT is one of the harder positions to be impactful at anyway, and a position that really shows if people are less talented or just aren't ready.

Herron is going to be a stud, as is Bain. Gilmore supposedly is going to be the best of the bunch. Don't worry about it.

I agree w/ u. Just thought i was missing something with all the gloom and doom with missing on Willis. I was under the impression that we were stacked at DT but that the staff felt that those guys needed a RS year to physically get where they need to be.

LSU has a long list of NFL DL that simply needed a RS year to add size and strength.

It's the nature of recruiting. At this time last year Quantavious Leslie was getting more hype than Beckham.

We were not ready to replace the attrition experienced at the position last year. The same attrition is happening again this year. The players who jumped ship have left us decimated at the DT position. We are going to be playing a group of sophomores with little experience and RS freshmen with no experience. Football is won in the trenches. We will not be able to compete losing underclassmen at this rate.

Bower is a DE all the way...

at tackle you'd have to assume at this point that Lacouture and Thomas will start. Herron came in recovering from surgery and supposedly has added good weight and should be a force. Bain and Gilmore struggled developing technique this year, hence the redshirt. Hopefully they'll be ready to contribute. I don't really know about Mickey, he didn't dress for the bowl game, he does seem to by injury prone.

Godchaux, DL recruit is going to be a good one.
