93.7 out of Lafayette is the only real rock station in south Louisiana. 92.3 been sucking balls for a long time.

Best Rock station in the area is 97.9 WCPR in Mississippi. 92.3 is going to Country Music on Monday according to one of their advertisers that I know.

Heard today, I work for a competing radio station in Nola, that they're going country and picking up Big D and Bubba.

What happens to the DJs? Do they just get on board with the new format or did they need to get a new crew that's familiar with the music?

That sucks. Radio has to be a tough business, especially these days.

A famous mis-quote of Hunter S. Thompson:
quote:

“The radio business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.”

Planet radio. It was moved to 105.1 in order to give the FM news station a stronger signal.
Its the same people, but they mix in some older stuff here and there and go a little heavier than they used to

Does South Louisiana have 1 alternative/rock station?

That was the only one...and now it's gone.

93.7 out of Lafayette is the only rock station left that plays new music, but it's mostly Nickleback, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, ect, totally different kind of station. This is worse than when 104.9 went country, maybe even worse than when 104.1 went back to pop from alt rock. This is a disaster.

I heard it last week They play "Bad Girlfriend", "Animals", "Know Who You Are" fairly regularly. They also reeaaaaalllly love Shinedown. I hear "Bully" and "Adrenaline" every day when I flip through that station. 93.7 plays the best Lost Classics, their 80s stuff is awesome, and it's cool hearing some good metal (sometimes even local metal) that's not heard anywhere else, but for every couple gems, there's a dud. It's not as consistantly good of a station, imo, as 92.3 was.
