Of all the Vietnamese places I have tried in NOLA, Lillie's stands out

I've been to all of them and based and I gotta say, I liked everything I had there. As a whole Tan Dinh might be better to some, but Lillie's was fantastic.

Also Kim Ahn is legit now that I finally got to go when they were open. The owner was in there drunk and socializing. He came over and brought me a beer (Bud Heavy ). He sat at our table and talked for a little while. It is very hard to understand a drunk Vietnamese man, but he was very friendly.

Ahn's and Lilly's are my two favorite by far. The pho ga at Lillys is one of the best bowls in town. Ahn's broth is so good I don't even add anything to it.

I'm guessing they got their liquor license at Ahn's.

he didn't sell it to me. he just asked me if i would drink with him, so he brought me a can of bud heavy out the back

The Pho Ga at Lillies was amazing. that's my go to dish. Ahn's is really good as well. Also the Crab Rangoon at Lillies was a touch better than Ahn but at that point you're just splitting hairs.

agree with both of y'all. the broth at Ahn's is just so damn good. best crab rangoon I've had is at Magasin. Five Happiness' rangoon is good too.

now I want pho for lunch

Ba Chi is the only place I know that has a shrimp banh mi. Where else can I get one?

I've had maybe one or two bowls at Ahn's that have been meh. I eat there at least twice a week. I find pho broth to be real inconsistent across the board at all the Viet places.

They also have kimchi french fries and pork belly spring rolls. Think I might pick some up on the way home this evening.

I agree about Lilly's. Everything tastes so fresh too. Magasin is a close second though, they have the best curry in NOLA.

I agree with O Brah on Ba Chi's wings

Everything I have had there has been fantastic (except for the service)

I bet. It had the entire neighborhood smelling awesome. Much better than the time you cooked shrimp or that okra.
