I have found a nice little morning spot. It is basically where deer travel from bedding down. I have seen 5 bucks in 4 hunts in the am, and zero deer in same stands in pm. Do deer normally have separate patterns am vs pm, or am I over thinking this

Probably more to do with feeding times

If anyone posts here with anything definite, they're full of shite. Unless you've lived in a brown fur cape, you have no idea what deer do.

Yes I'm bitter about deer this week.

By the way, I appreciate all of the help from the board. I have hunted for probably 12 years, but have always been a food plot /box stand Hunter. This year I am hunting scrape lines and high traffic areas with much more success. Thanks for the tips and I'm sure I'll start some more dumb topics in the future.

in the last 6 years of hunting our place in ms, i've killed 1 deer before 9:30am

95% of our deer are killed in the afternoons.. doesn't matter lunar/feeding times/heat/cold/rain/snow....

our deer are afternoon deer.

This, depending on the layout of your property and where the deer bed and feed you can definitely see more activity one way are the other on a consistent basis.

my deer are almost always moving in the evening...morning hunts are a waste of time and make me cold...i like hunting evening time when the ground is wet...but I hunt in southeast ga...over a powerline amongst pine rows...totally different from most everyone here so...i think it really depends on your locale...

Depends on the deers' schedule. Some I swear you can set your watch by, and others just seem to move whenever.

Or the more likely scenario is your camp is full of drunks that don't get up.

Deer move in the mornings no matter where you are.

I've only seen one deer at our place in the morning, every deer i've killed has been in the afternoon.

switching the way i do things now because of this. instead of getting up early as shite, going to get out there around 10-11 in the morning now and just stay all day. we have some lazy deer that like to sleep in!

or they have patterned the hunters that get there before daylight and stay until 9 or so.

How long are you sitting in the stand?

We've been killing late morning this year, both of my kills up north have been after 10:30

The deer at my current lease seem to move more from 9-10 a.m. or later... and I'm hunting adjacent to "bedding areas".

we duckhunt in the AM.

zero deer have been killed in my lease in morehouse parish over the past 7 years. We all decided to deer hunt opening weekend since it was before the ducks opened up and nobody saw a deer.

My lease in Desoto is a morning massacre.

Could be coincidence, could be that they walk a familiar route and that's why you always see them at the same time. You could be hunting the same moon every time you go. The only answer is the more time you spend out there, especially when everyone else is back at the camp, the better your chances

We shoot most of our big bucks in Bienville Parish in the morning. Mostly between 8:30-noon. I see most of my deer around 9:30. I've also started hunting from 9-3. Sleep late and start eating and drinking early.

Hunted for years in St Franciscille, now I hunt swamp around thibodaux. IMHO, given the option, I always try to woods in the AM and fields in the PM.

That being said, I have seen more bucks on morning hunts, but more does on PM hunts.

Nice thread. Good posts.
